Warehouse TERRADA Hosts Tennoz Art Week 2026

Warehouse TERRADA will hold TENNOZ ART WEEK 2026 from September 10 to 13. This multi-venue art event, now in its fourth edition, will take place across the Tennoz district of Tokyo. It is being held in collaboration with the Tokyo Gendai international art fair, which runs from September 11 to 13 at PACIFICO Yokohama. Free shuttle buses will connect the two events for ticket holders on September 12 and 13.

Tennoz is one of Tokyo's leading art districts, with a history dating to the Edo period when coastal batteries were built. Its cluster of galleries, museums, and storage facilities along canals has been bolstered by Warehouse TERRADA's development of art-related facilities since the 2000s, including a bonded gallery space established in 2022. The area's proximity to Haneda Airport has helped attract international collectors.

Art Fair and Gallery Collaborations

The centerpiece is Tennoz Contemporary, an art fair at the TERRADA ART COMPLEX featuring 38 galleries. Resident galleries will stage collaborative shows with guest galleries from Japan and overseas.

Tennoz Contemporary runs from September 10 to 13 at TERRADA ART COMPLEX I & II. Admission is free.

Open Studios and Emerging Artists

For the first time, TERRADA ART STUDIO Tennoz will open its normally private studios to the public. Resident artists will exhibit and sell work while giving visitors a glimpse into their creative spaces.

The open studio event runs from September 10 to 13. Hours are from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm, closing at 5:00 pm on the final day.

Curated Exhibitions and Night Museum

WHAT CAFE will present a group exhibition co-curated by artist Noboru Tsubaki. "u.n.l.o.c.k. tube++" features 37 artists and explores how buying and living with art can enrich daily life. It opens earlier, running from September 4 to 27.

WHAT MUSEUM will host gallery tours and a Night Museum event tied to its current architecture exhibition. On September 11 and 12, the museum will stay open until 8:00 pm. A guided gallery tour is scheduled for September 12 from 11:00 am.

Traditional Art Workshop

PIGMENT TOKYO will host a workshop titled "Painting Flowers on Silk Canvas." Participants will use traditional eginu silk and Japanese colors, experimenting with Edo-period techniques like reverse-side coloring. It is priced at ¥13,200 and runs from September 11 to 13, with an English-language session on September 11.

Through these programs, which offer access to finished works and the places where art is made, the event aims to convey the state of contemporary Japanese art and the multifaceted appeal of the Tennoz district itself.
