Introducing … Miike Snow.

miike snowWe’d like to introduce you to Miike Snow. This recently released, self-titled effort is stunning in it’s sophisticated simplicity. The light synth-pop rolls along with pleasant vocals and interesting sounds. The resounding and repetitive first notes of the intro track “Animal” set the tone and immediately let the listener know they are in for a treat. Miike Snow reminds us of the early 90’s group Lightning Seeds but taken a step further in maturity.

Put it on. Let it play.  You’ll find yourself feeling nicer.  Then you’ll find yourself feeling nicer still.  Abrubtly, you’ll find yourself hooked by something that seems to understand what you needed to hear. You might even let it roll over again, just to be sure you liked it as much as you thought you did.

Strangely, the music of Miike Snow is from a trio of producers that have propelled Britney Spears, Madonna, and Kylie Minogue. This is difficult to reconcile as you experience the sound of this album.  You’d never put this together.  The sound is one more avant-garde than mainstream, but not so that it alienates.

Mr. Snow’s album is a refreshing gem we guarantee will wind up in heavy rotation on your ipod much like it is currently on KCRW.
